Although it may not be obvious, many wedding planners specialise in the event itself and contract out travel arrangements. This means there is the risk of divided responsibilities. We believe it best to have these key skills, essential for a successful wedding, in-house. We are a partnership between leading wedding planner Larissa Banting, and the Latin American travel specialist Latin Discover. Both are based in Costa Rica and have considerable experience of making reliable arrangements in Latin America.
Larissa Banting
Hailing from Canada, Larissa fell in love with a Costa Rican and this was the debut of Weddings Costa Rica in 2003. Since then she has successfully arranged more than 300 weddings and has garnered a reputation for excellence, professionalism and creativity, establishing itself as the most-recommended and preferred wedding planners amongst the country's top hoteliers.
Larissa has a natural affinity for event planning - her parents produced one of Canada's largest and longest-running festivals as well as theatrical stage shows. After a successful career as a professional dancer and choreographer, Larissa focused her energies on marketing and public relations for the arts and film, producing special events for Alberta Ballet, the Alberta Film and Television Awards and the Northern Alberta International Children's Festival. Larissa brings her artist's sensibilities to each wedding she designs, working with the couple to create a uniquely memorable celebration. Her experience managing budgets and production schedules ensures that each wedding not only looks beautiful but runs on time and within budget.
Larissa is listed in the invitation-only "Little Black Book" for wedding vendors as a wedding planner for Costa Rica. In the March/April March 2010 edition of the Destination Weddings & honeymoons magazine, Larissa was selected as the one of the top 30 destination planners worldwide after the editors had "scoured the planet".
